Golden Barrel Cactus ( Echinocactus Grusonii ) is a rare and endangered cactus in the wild. It is a beautiful type of succulent called golden ball or mother-in-law’s cushion. Its circular shape with thorns stem or trunk makes them exquisitely unique.
This cactus can be used as a landscape for security in your front yard or backyard due to its multiple spines sitting in its rib-like flesh. They can grow up to 2 feet tall in full sun to partial shade. It is native to North America.
Allow the soil to dry before watering them, and make sure there is an excellent draining hole in the pot to prevent root rot. You can grow them in USDA Hardiness Zones 10-11. Fertilizing them once a month during their growing season using a low-nitrogen fertilizer will help them grow healthy.
The best way to propagate them is via seeds.
