Lipstick Plant (Aeschynanthus radicans) is native to the tropical climate of Southeast Asia. It has waxy, glossy, green foliage and unique flowers that can mesmerize a plant enthusiast. Growing them as a houseplant is easy as long as you provide them with humidity, enough warmth, and filtered sunlight to thrive.
You can plant them in a hanging basket and place them on bookshelves, where they cascade down their beautiful foliage for a tropical accent to your home. Lipstick plant thrives in bright and indirect sunlight and a well-drained soil mix. Avoid exposing them to direct sunlight which can cause leaf scorch.
Allow the soil to dry before watering them, and make sure there is an excellent draining hole in the pot to prevent root rot. Fertilizing them during their growing season using a slow-release fertilizer will help the plant grow healthy. The easiest way to propagate this beauty is via stem cuttings.
You can grow them in USDA Hardiness Zones 10-11.
